Warmer days are here, and we can bet you are beginning to think about bathing suits, the beach and sundresses, right? But before any of that, you should be thinking about getting your summer skin ready. And by ready, we mean waxing. There is a bit of a process to waxing done right, but don’t worry, we’re here to walk you through everything you need to know to get your skin ready to bring the heat.

1. Prepare Yourself

It’s a good idea to prepare for your wax appointment about two weeks before you come in.

The biggest step? Stop shaving so their hair is at least a ¼” long allowing the wax will grip properly. Trust us, we know this is hard, but you’ll be much happier with the results in the end.

A few days prior, be sure to exfoliate really well. Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells and loosen up the hair you want removed. Try Tu’el Skin Care’s Power Scrub Exfoliating Wash...it will definitely do the trick.

2. Appointment Day

Take a warm bath. A bath can help soften the skin and make the wax treatment more effective

Questions about using hard vs. soft wax? A good wax professional will answer any questions you may have about the difference, and which is better for the service you are requesting. Don’t forget to relax and hydrate, and if you are really worried about pain, you can take some Advil about 20 minutes before your appointment.

3. After: Get Ready to Glow

Depending on the waxing service, it might be a good idea to shower instead of taking a bath for the first few days post appointment. Be sure to limit working out (due to sweating) for 24 hours. Ice always helps...especially if the area is red or swollen, and don’t forget to moisturize!
